Text Box: CHRISTIAN EDUCATION Sunday School Operates from September to the end of May. Children age 4 to grade 6, attend the opening of the 9:15AM. worship and then proceed to their classes at the Parish Hall. Nursery Operates from September to the end of May for children up to 3 years of age held downstairs at the church during the 9:15 AM service. Confirmation/Inquirer's Class . Confirmation is a sacramental rite where church members have an opportunity to re-affirm their baptismal vows. Confirmation is an opportunity to make a public profession of faith, and re-affirm the promises made at baptism. The service is celebrated by our diocesan bishop during his annual visit, usually in February each year. The preparation program takes the form of weekly meeting for study and discussion from October to February. The bishop’s guidelines recommend that individuals preparing for confirmation should be at least 15 years of age, in that confirmation requires a mature commitment of faith. For details please contact the parish office. ‘Life In the Eucharist’ Is a program designed for 7-10 year olds to introduce children and their parents to the celebration of Holy Eucharist. This six-week program takes place in late winter-early spring each year. Our church affirms that baptism is the rite of initiation, and that all those who are baptised may receive the sacrament of Holy Eucharist. This program gives children some understanding of the liturgy and the place of the sacrament in daily life. Baptism Preparation The sacrament of Baptism is celebrated at the main Sunday service according to an annual schedule. Contact the parish office regarding dates for the services and the preparation evenings. ‘Alpha’ Program Is an eleven (11) week program that introduces some of the basics of the Christian faith. Each session consists of a shared meal, a presentation on a topic and time to explore the topic in small group discussion. We will not be offering the course this fall (2005). Christian Education throughout the year there are a number of opportunities for Christian Education. For details please contact the Parish Office. Bible Study We offer different Bible Study programs throughout the year Vacation Bible Camp Takes place during the second week of August. This year marks the sixteenth anniversary of our program. Participants range in age from 3-11 years of age. 3-5 year olds attend the morning program of singing, crafts, games, and scripture study. 6-11 year olds stay on for a series of different activities.
